All glazes used at Serious Pottery are lead-free which makes them safe for daily usage.

However, certain glaze surfaces requires more care than the others,

 

Matt glazes are safe for daily use, but we do not recommend using knives and forks as they cause cutlery marks.

​

Raku-fired pots are aesthetics and special, however, due to the special firing process, they should only be used as decorative pieces. The clay is not fully vitrified during the Raku firing process.

​

In some cultures, crazing glazes are aesthetically preferred (Japanese and Chinese tea culture) while some regions consider crazing as flaws. The cracks on the glaze (which is essentially glass) will become "traps" for dirt and grease due to daily usage. If you are worried about this "flaw", please carefully check the item description before purchasing.

We recommend hand-wash for the handmade pots.
